Morning Prayer - Eastertide

Leader: O God, come to my assistance.

All: O Lord, make haste to help me.

Leader: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

All: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world with out end, Amen.

Leader: Let us continue to remember with joy that Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday in order to give his servants victory over death.

All: Christ, our Redeemer, has risen from the tomb: let us sing a hymn to the Lord, our God. Alleluia.

Leader:         Bless the Lord, all his works,

praise and exalt him for ever.

                    Bless the Lord, you heavens;

all his angels, bless the Lord.

All: Christ, our Redeemer, has risen from the tomb: let us sing a hymn to the Lord, our God. Alleluia.

Leader: “I am the resurrection and the life,” says the Lord; “he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

(Pause)

All: Almighty ever-living God, lead us to a share in the joys of heaven, so that the humble flock may reach where the brave Shepherd has gone before. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Leader: Let us praise the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL for April 28, 2024

John 15:1-8

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

2 Every branch in me that bears no fruit he cuts away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes to make it bear even more.

3 You are clean already, by means of the word that I have spoken to you.

4 Remain in me, as I in you. As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself, unless it remains part of the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.

5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; for cut off from me you can do nothing.

6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a branch -- and withers; these branches are collected and thrown on the fire and are burnt.

7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for whatever you please and you will get it.

8 It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit and be my disciples.
